You’ve Chosen Merrychef – Now Which One?

Many food-to-go businesses are upgrading their kitchens and considering Merrychef as a replacement for traditional panini grills. A common question is the difference between the E1S and E2S, especially given the significant price gap.

Performance Comparison

Performance-wise, both models are quite similar, as demonstrated in our video. The E1S has a slightly less powerful microwave than the E2S, resulting in a 10-15 second longer cook time. However, this minor difference often isn’t noticeable and can actually improve service speed.

Capacity Considerations

The key differentiator is capacity. The E1S is ideal for businesses with around 50 cook cycles per day, while the E2S is better suited for 100-120 cycles. For even higher volumes, the 32A single or 3-phase E2S is an option, but the 13A model is usually sufficient. Continuous, non-stop cooking might warrant the 32A model.

Product Suitability

The E1S is primarily designed for toasties and panini, though it can also produce excellent pizza in just 2 minutes. Its 800W microwave isn’t optimal for cooking many frozen products. If you frequently cook frozen items like breaded chicken, the E2S would be a better choice. Should your site require the ability to cook raw food, while the E2S and the E1S have the capability the E4S is more capable and should be considered.
